Comms people and social media managers have a new platform to figure out,
Organization leaders might be freaking out, asking for a strategy already,
A lot of random people on LinkedIn suddenly are Threads experts,
And a lot of people around the world don’t even have access to download it yet…
So, let’s talk about Threads! What are your questions and concerns? Has anyone started to use it for their social impact work? What have you learned? Let’s discuss here, and eventually we can organize a webinar/meet-up about it too! ⬇️
One of my big questions around Threads so far is whether or not it's really here to stay. Everyone also freaked out about Clubhouse, BeReal, Mastadon, and who knows what else... Should I really be thinking about Threads just yet?
I also wonder how far behind those of us who can't download it yet will fall. There's a big advantage to those who are already securing their usernames, building followers, and experimenting. I worry about how we'll be able to catch up if and when the app is allowed in the EU.
I see a lot of people from Europe that have already downloaded it. Me myself just got it yesterday through an APK file. It seems to work well and quickly integrates with your Instagram app.
APK from trusted sites are usually safe. There are people that don't have Google Playstore for example and download everything through APK. However, it's still not launched in some EU countries, so the app might crash or not work fully.
The @threadsapp looks nice! But have you realized that only influencers and accounts with many thousand of followers shows up on the timeline?
Small creators and normal users has no much or zero visibility here… I hope the distribution can also value the thoughts of who is small as well. #peace ✌🏽
As a personal user, I'm curious about how much data they take. Or what's Meta's incentive again? Is it just gonna be a place for more ads? As a Comms professional, how will this help businesses? Does every organization need to be on there?
That's definitely a concern, especially since it's not approved in the EU exactly because of data concerns. We're organizing a webinar for the 3rd week of August on the topic, so we'll make sure to address your questions there!
The original idea of Twitter was to find people from communities you like and from things you are interested in. I just joined threads yesterday and there is already 'algorithm highlighted' content on my feed. The rest then seems quite user friendly and I think it will establish itself pretty quickly, simply by the easy integration and huge user base of Instagram.

I think there's a new feature now where you can sort by friends and following! Have you seen that yet?
